First of all, let me say that I am sorry for the absence. I just finished unpaking the last of the boxes from the move and am peacefully settled into the new place. I would also like to say that by popular demand, I (along with a few others) have decided to go through with my Initation to the First Degree. I passed every preperation and I have accomplished every goal my Initiator, for lack of a better word, has given me. I know that I have come across heavy resistance from a few timely old witches in the beginning, and for a while there, I did call off the Initiation. But I talked it out with a few people and it is more than the fact that I simply "want" to be initiated now, it seems like it will bring the spirits of others up as well.

My initiator is having a hard time at her job and with family, and working on my special day helps her unwind. One of my friends feels a little closer to me and to his Diety just by being able to attend. My mother has expressed just how proud of her son she is and is more than happy to attend. I myself and overjoyed to finally be able to call myself a Witch without facing judgement from the Elders and Crones out there.

I want to say to those Elders and Crones that, yes, I do understand that there is a lot you have to do before you are ready for the first initiation. And Yes, I do understand that I have to go around the Wheel of the Year at least once, which I have done already. But I want to ask if you truely understand that sometimes you are just called to do something. My Diety called me to do something to help my friend's morale and she almost threw an initiation book at me. The rest is history. For those of you saying that I am doing this before my time, I tell you now that I have compleated every task that my initiator has given me. I have written essays and I have almost a full Book of Shadows now. Although I am going into this as a Non-Crafting Witch, I am going to keep a book of Spells as there is more than one form of a Spell. Simply blowing a kiss to the one you love in itself is considered casting a spell.

That is pretty much all I wanted to say about that. To those of you who say that I am rushing this, understand that it is you for the most part who told me that "You do not choose Wicca or the Craft, but The Craft chooses you." This is mearly the same for my Initiation. For those of you who are either being helped by this event or simply send your blessings, Thank you.

This Deck or That

Today's topic will be about the wonderful world of the new Tarot Deck. And I want to remind everyone that what iwritten here is my own thoughts and opinions. Now, I know that there are people out there that have either just purchased a new deck or are waiting in anticipation to purchase your very first Tarot Deck. For those of you that have not read with Tarot before, I would suggest that you begin your readings with playing cards. But I beg of you to remember one certain rule. The Celtic Cross Spread is not used to answer yes or no questions. That doesn't mean that you can not ask "Will I get that promotion?" or questions along those lines because that reading has much more to it than just blurting yes or no. Although, you may want a simple one word answer that is NEVER what you will get.

Now that the intro has been said, about that brand spanking new deck you just bought last week. What I usually do when I purchase a new Tarot Deck is, I go through the initial plapitations of ripping off the plastic, scratching and clawing to get at my new deck. After that, I go through the usual excitement of holding the cards in my hand. If the cards themselves are wrapped seperately, then my heart continues to swell with anticipation until I finally get at them. I then shuffle through the cards and look at each one individually. Just recently, I went through the transition of being a Novice Reader to an Intermediate Reader. Meaning that I still need my little books heavily and rely on them very much so, but I am able to understand and interpert a throw while looking at the cards themselves. Now, don't worry too much about when and how you transition from "Beginner" to "Expert" because you will just know. It's not something you can really plan for.

The name of my newest deck is called "Gay Tarot". Something very common in my "Phase of Buying a New Deck," is the feeling of remorse or better called that uh-oh feeling. "Should I have bought this deck? Is this what I am looking for? Did I buy the wrong deck?" After the inital fear of thinking that I have made a life altering mistake with my deck choice, I shuffel through and look through the cards once more and think that perhaps I can use this deck in certain situations.

I want to offer some insightful words of wisdom for those of you who, like me, kinda rely on some sort of pictorial evidence to indicate what the heck is going on in each deck. There is a world of difference between each and every deck. I know that may sound scary and only increase your uh-oh fear, but worry not. Just buy a deck and start there. You don't have to go through this sacred ritual where you have to strip nude and pray to the gods for which deck you must purchase. There is no right or wrong deck for you, just as there is no God-sent deck for you.

Remember, there is no need to fear that brand new deck of cards.
May all your days be sunny and bright

Let the Sun Shine In

I was thinking today about a conversation I had had with a friend. Now I want to let it known that I am not saying that his way is wrong and that I am right. I firmly believe that everyone had their own way in life. We each have our own life path we must walk down. With that being said, I had a conversation with a friend about how we practice. Now I have been involved with the craft for only a short amount of time compared to my friend, but that does not mean that I haven't been involved long enough to have formed my own ideals and opinions yet. Our conversation was about upbringing. A sort-of witchy history. While I have no ancestors (that I know of) who have practiced, my friend's entire family has practiced for many generations.

His family has been very "Nose to the grindstone" about the craft and my family has always been very laid back on most situations. I believe that you should include fun and humor with the craft, otherwise there is no real learning to it. It is my opinion that you simply wont learn as much if you feel that you HAVE to learn it or that it is necessary to spend most of your waking moments studying intently. Let yourself have a little fun every now and again. Its not a sin and trust me, the Rule of 3 definately does not apply when you are goofing off. You wont get any horrible reprocussions for laughing one time.

My point here is: Always remember to let yourself smile and have fun, not just with the craft but with everything you do. Not every day had to be grey :-)

New Blog

I want to start by welcoming you to my new blog ^_^ I would like to start by say that there will be 3 main things that this blog revolves around. First and foremost, I want it to revolve around my life as a witch. No that does not mean that I am going to come on here and cry about how we get treated. That is what my Xanga is for ^_^ What I will be doing is putting down my own personal thoughts and feelings about what I have learned as a witch. This will be like my electronic BOS so to speak. From time to time, I may ask one of my witchy friends to offer some insight on some things as I am still a novice witch.

Secondly, I will be posting my insights on life as a gay man. Again I say that I am not using this blog to whine and cry about "The heteros are mad at me and hate me" and blah blah blah. I have lived long enough as a gay guy and a witch to know how to survive. Also I have enough experience to share with others confidently.

Lastly, a few of my friends and I are knitters, so I think I can make room for some of out creations ^_^

Blessed Be my friends
